It’s the end of finals week and I’d just like to just thank everyone for being the most supportive people ever! Seriously, it’s not even my birthday and my friends spoil me like no other. :)

It all started on Saturday when I come home and there’s this muffin with my name on it in the batch on a plate. “Mish baked again!” I think. But then I turned and saw.. MY OWN BATCH OF HOMEMADE GRANOLA BARS WITH ALMONDS AND HONEY AND CRANBERRIES. Mish specifically baked me granola bars as a study snack because she knows I love cranberries and almonds. :)

Then on Sunday I was studying superhard and Kogie comes over with FLOWERS. One for each of my classes! He got me flowers and a cranberry muffin that wasn’t too sweet and a carrot muffin that I have been talking about for DAYS. He walked all the way to the co-op for it, this cutie. He even got me a HUGE family-sized bag of mini Reese’s because he knows those are my favs!

Wednesday was my worst day and Mish saw how stressed I was, so she went out and tried to get me the chocolate oranges that I totally LOVE, but found out they’re only seasonal, so she got me Reese’s! She even put on a cute note for me!

On Thursday, Kogie and I went out to eat. I thought it was just going to be something casual, but he dressed up and took me to Pluto’s and we sat outside and had the cutest date ever! We even got giant cookies after.

Kogie came over on Friday with home-made bento boxes! Super Asian, but so so so thoughtful because I was running out of food and he never really cooks. It was so delicious omg..

Then today Mish and I FINALLY had a roommate outing and it was the best thing evers. I feel like we never hang out one-on-one anymore, so this was superfun. Mish Mish is just someone you can never have awkward silences with; there’s always SOMETHING to talk about! We went to farmer’s market and had Thai food and it was just a nice, relaxing day.

I wish I took pictures, but I’m grateful for all of the texts wishing me good luck. It may be something small, but they took the time to do it even though they’re probably studying for finals.

Gotta head out to eat out with everyone still here now! Then tomorrow morning catching the flight with Kogie. BECAUSE OUR TRIP IS SERIOUSLY AROUND THE CORNER NOW. :)

Change

Just a little thought that’s been going through my head for a bit now. I guess you could call this my New Year’s Post?

It’s kind of crazy how much living in a new environment could just change you, you know? If I look back exactly one year from now, I was a completely different person. I mean, I knew from the beginning that going to college changes people, but I didn’t really stop and think about the extent or degree of which the “change” was.

I know I have changed from high school to college; I started dressing better and doing my makeup more often. I went from dependent little Jackie who always had her parents do things for her to a more independent girl who did her own laundry and woke herself up. I started giving other food a chance; on occasion, I would eat Mexican food or sandwiches, which is something the old, closed off me would have never done. I started drinking and I was even lil sis for a frat for a little while. When the quarter ended, I truly thought that that was the extent of my growth. I never liked too much change; or maybe it was more like I never had to experience too much change?

Then I started a new school year living off college and then I really changed. I’ve started to really save money now. I don’t eat out too much anymore and I look for the lowest prices on gas and groceries. Safeway is one of my favorite apps. I started cooking and baking now. In fact, one of my favorite websites now is allrecipes. I’m more conscious of what I’m eating and I try to become fit and exercise. I may not have a clean room all of the time, but my part of the room is looking a lot cleaner than it would if I were the same. I wash all of my dishes right away most of the time. I’m on top of my classes and I’m proud to say I did really well last quarter. I don’t procrastinate and pull all-nighters anymore. I think in general I’m becoming more motivated, more health-conscious, more independent..

Maybe it’s because I’m not living in San Jose’s “bubble” anymore or maybe I never reflected so much about it before, but I’m definitely seeing a lot of change in myself. I don’t really know how I will be in the very end, but hopefully I’ll become a better person from this.

Day 10: Three Strengths

1. I think the best part about me that I consciously know of is my confidence/assertiveness. I’m pretty comfortable speaking with anyone and I’m not afraid to ask or say something. I like to take initiative to doing things instead of waiting for something to happen because it really bothers me when something is left unclear or not done.

2. If I’m doing something, I’ll be as meticulous as I can. I remember when I was in high school I hella procrastinated on projects and stuff, but when I actually did them I took time doing them because I don’t want my work to look like a piece of shit, even if I only had a few hours and I could totally bs and turn it in.

3. I think my habits should count as a strength. I mean, I enjoy reading the news. I try to understand politics. I eat breakfast every day and I sleep at a decent time. I like using correct punctuation and for the most part try to adhere to grammar rules. I dunno, it counts to me.

Day 9: Three Weaknesses

1. I’m generally always cold. BUT if I’m outside and it gets a little too hot in the summer, I can get nosebleeds and faint. Noooo joke. So yeah, office job it is!

2. I’m very indecisive. The thing with my indecisiveness is that if someone decides something and I don’t like it, I won’t go with it. So I’m kind of picky and indecisive, which is the worst combo ever.

3. I don’t like committing too much into something.. Like my internship, lol.

Day 7: Three Favorite Foods

UHHH this is kind of hard because I can’t really take it down to three, but I’ll try..

1. BAKED GOODS.

OHMYGOD I CAN’T REJECT ANY BAKED GOOD.. Seriously. Cookies, cake, brownies, bread, the list does on..

2. Malaysian Laksa. So bomb.

3. Rice wrapped in lotus leaf. I think that’s how Americans call it?

Eh probably not my favs, but nothing is coming up right now.

Day 5: Three Regrets

Okay, I was hella lazy so let’s do this.

1. Not trying hard enough in school.

2. Not appreciating my family more.

3. Not being assertive enough in hs.
